Holston River Soil & Water Conservation District (HRSWCD) is dedicated to teaching others how to protect and preserve their natural resources (soil, water, air, plants, animals & humans) of Washington County.
FREE in-school natural resources lessons are provided year round for elementary, middle, and high school students, as well as, homeschoolers in Washington County and the City of Bristol, in an effort to provide a Meaningful Watershed Educational Experience. The Conservation Education Program reaches approximately 200 educators and 4,500 students each year by providing classroom lessons and field experiences, as well as, career fairs and public events.
Our largest outreach is the 6th grade Farm Field Day in which students and teachers visit a working dairy farm, observe conservation management practices, test the water quality in Hutton Creek, and visit a total of twelve learning stations.
